About the Auctions
Everything you need to know about participating and bidding in the Bad Apples Artist Collective Monthly Themed Auctions.
Where:
All of our auctions are held on the Bad Apple facebook page.
When:
Auctions usually start around the 28th day of each month, and run for 3 or 4 days. Check the facebook page for the exact date and time for each particular auction.
Choosing the Theme
At the beginning of each month we post a survey with 6 themes. We let you vote for your favorite by posting a poll on our page. After 3 days of running the poll, the winning idea becomes our theme for the month. The Bad Apple Artists will then create an original work based on the chosen theme.
Posting the Auction Album
The auctions run during the last 3 or 4 days of the month (usually starting on the 27th or 28th at 5pm EST), but please check the page for the regular updates that we post for up to date details. The auction pieces are posted in an album on the main page with instructions for bidding.
Bidding
You can then bid on the work you want to win by commenting with your bid.
All works open with a starting bid of the artist's choice. Artists add their own shipping costs so please check this additional cost which will be noted in the description on each work. Subsequent bids must be at least $ 5 higher than the previous bid.
Each artist also has the option to state a BUY IT NOW price and if someone chooses to BUY IT NOW then they win the piece at the price stated.
**BUY IT NOW will run for the duration of the auction & can be used at any time***
Auction End
The auctions end at 5pm EST on the last day of the auction but if an artwork has a bid placed on it in the last 2 hours of the auction then a 2 hour grace period will be added from the time the bid was placed for anyone wishing to counter bid. If a bid is placed in that 2 hour period then another 2 hours will be added from the time the next bid was placed and so on until the highest bidder wins. If no counter bid is placed within these 2 hour "grace" periods then bidding is closed on that artwork.
The "2 hour Grace Rule" Clarified
The 2 hour "grace" periods allow everyone to have a fair and equal chance of winning the piece. There will not always be one of the artists keeping an eye on things hour to hour so please be patient in waiting for the winning bids to be announced.
Both Artists and Bidders can see the time that the previous bid comes in so those bids received within 2 hours of the previous one will be valid and the auction will continue.
Any bids which are made after the 2 hour period has passed will not be accepted.
Bids from outside Facebook
Bids can be placed from customers who are not on Facebook, as we advertise on other sites. Outside bidders will need to contact the collective in order to have their bid placed by **someone on the team**. A first name will be required for public view. We no longer accept fully anonymous postings but we hope a first name will be fair for those who value their online privacy but want to take part.
***We do NOT accept bids from people bidding on behalf of a third party***
Winner Announcements and Payments
After the auction has closed on a piece the artist will contact the winner to let them know they have won. The winner will then need to provide the artist with their Pay Pal email address so the artist can invoice them.
Payment must be made immediately on receiving the invoice & non payment/ late payment will be dealt with at the discretion of each artist RE their personal policies. If you need more than 2 days in order to settle your invoice please let the artist know immediately but also be aware that they are not obliged to offer extended payment options.
Please note that non payment in our auctions will result in penalties. If this incident occurs you will incur a 1 month suspension from participation. If a customer incurs 3 suspensions then they will be banned from taking part on a permanent basis. This is to protect our hard working artists against the possibility of false bids being placed and also to allow a fair & positive environment for all participants
ACEO Auctions
We often have ACEO Auctions and the rules also apply to them, however the start bid will be just $ 10 and $ 1 raises will be accepted.
There will be no BUY IT NOW option on the ACEO Auctions (sorry folks). Please read the terms on our ACEO Actions as they occur.
Finally
Our Auctions are a great way for anyone with any budget to collect original art. Most of our artists sell their originals between $200 to over $3,000 on average, sometimes more-so. The low opening bids here are a real deal. We as artists do this because we have fun with the auction and the themes give us a chance to stretch our abilities and try ideas we might not have otherwise. We enjoy giving our fans more affordable opportunities to collect our work and it's our way of thanking you for all for the support and kindness you have shown us.
We hope that your participation in the auction is an enjoyable experience and we hope you get the treasured original you are after. Remember there will be more created every month as long as both fans and artists are enjoying the process.
